February 4, 2018Finding Your Perfect Match! (Photography match that is...) | Sarah Jane Photography
Finding your perfect match... If you didn’t know this already about me, I love LOVE photography. The ability to still all the movements of life in one frame has always captivated me. When a single frame can make me feel like I was right there in the moment, it makes my heart sing. Like actually sing! I feel photography is so personal. The connection between the creative behind the camera and the subject, and the trust that must exist, can tell the story of that person or place in that exact moment and time. That is why I love photographing people. Our stories, our lives and our histories call to me. All our unique features, expressions, emotions and truth is what I want anyone to feel when they are looking at a picture. I think it’s what any photographer wants. So, from a client or subject’s perspective, when you’re hiring a photographer, what you are really doing is hiring someone to document your life through their eyes. You want them to really see you and your…
November 11, 2017Richard & Jo | Waters Edge Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
Can you say, “PARTY OF THE YEAR!” Richard and Jo’s wedding was most definitely that. The Water’s Edge Event Centre was transformed into a magical dream and each person there was dedicated to giving all their love and joy to this wonderful day! But even more exciting than the venue, decorations, guests and food was the love that Richard and Jo had for each other. The care and time they took with each other when all the details didn’t go according to plan was inspiring. I truly love their love!! A few of my favourites… Richard and Jo’s love for Harry Potter!! The FOOD! I can’t say enough about Smashed Apple… they never disappoint. Our 15 minute intimate portrait session in between storms! Our night shot!! Below is their beautiful story told in pictures…
November 10, 2017Fall Family Sessions | Iron Kettle Barn | Sarah Jane Photography
When fall comes to Southwest Ontario it’s like a dream filled with all of your favourite colours. It’s my favourite time to explore and take pictures. Each year I find something new to love about Windsor, Essex. This year we invited our family sessions to The Iron Kettle Barn in Stoney Point, Ontario for a weekend of fun. Every time I visit the Iron Kettle B&B and their farm I’m never disappointed. The property is always beautiful and our families truly enjoy hanging out.Even the kids who are losing their sh** always start smiling when they see the animals… =) Here are a few of my favourite pictures from this weekend.
October 14, 2017Katherine & Scott | Cooper's Hawk Vineyard Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
I was so excited to be a part of Scott and Katherine’s beautiful day. They got married at Cooper's Hawk Vineyardsin Ontario surrounded by a great group of family and friends. Katherine was stunning, Scott cried just a bit and the vineyard was an incredible backdrop for the whole day. It was a joy documenting their love! A few of my favourites…. Cooper's Hawk Vinyards… you MUST visit this amazing Southwestern Ontario vinyard! The “hill”! Scott convinced us to walk up the hill and the view blew me away! Katherine’s dress from Bridal Couture was perfect. I loved that it was a small intimate wedding filled with love and joy. Oh the food...nothing more to say about that! Yummo! That last minute night shot under the lights just before the rain came…I was jumping up and down excited! Here is the story of their day told in pictures…xo
October 4, 2017Kaitlin & David | St. Clair College Centre for the Arts Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
This past weekend was beautiful in Windsor! The weather was incredible and the light was amazing and Kaitlin and David’s wedding was perfect. After a super cute first look at the riverfront park in downtown Windsor, they said “I DO” (in front of an arch that the brides dad made!) on the balcony at the St. Clair College Centre for the Arts. It was a day that was filled with so much joy and emotion it was contagious! A few of my favourites… The flowers!! The Bourbon Rose created stunning bouquets!! Check them out! Kaitlin’s laugh… she is so infectious and lovely I just want to hang out always! The Arch! Kaitlin’s father made a beautiful backdrop for them to get married in front of. The food!! Kaitlin and Dave are vegetarians and made choices for our meal that St. Clair College Centre for the Arts hit out of the park! Yum!! The first dance… I love when the first song is something unique to the couple that they clearly connect over. “Like…
September 25, 2017Jaclyn&Matt | Waters Edge Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
Celebrating Jaclyn & Matt was really a joy. They are a super cute couple with a super cute dog named Finn! Matt was very handsome (and a little nervous) and Jaclyn looked beautiful in her dress from It’s Your Day Bridal Boutique! After their first look at Ojibway Park they said their “I do’s” at The Waters Edge Event Centre in Windsor, Ontario. Surrounded by a really nice group of family and friends we enjoyed a very yummy meal from Smashed Apple Catering, and danced the night away to the tunes played by Lights Sound Action Entertainment Services. It was a really lovely day. I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and joy!!

August 31, 2017Breakfast with The Bryants! | Lifestyle Session | Sarah Jane Photography
Making breakfast with a one year old can be adventurous and possibly disasterous...but breakfast at the Bryant's was so much fun. My good friends Spencer, Erin and little Adalyn (Addy) had me over for a yummy breakfast and watching Addy help make pancakes was the highlight of my day. I photographed their mini lifestyle session and flour and eggs were flying and it was a great time. I'm looking forward to our next adventure!

June 8, 2017Bryan&Renee | Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery | Sarah Jane Photography
Bryan and Renee are just the sweetest couple. I’ve known Bryan’s family for quite some time and I was overjoyed to be a part of their beautiful day. On a perfectFriday afternoon at Sprucewood Shore Estate Winery, surrounded by their lovely daughter, and their family and friends, they officially became a family. Some of my favourite moments: The sweet moments shared while the ladies were getting ready. The look on Bryan’s face as Renee was walking towards him. How small and fun the wedding party was! The beautiful location. The first dance!!
June 2, 2017Ethan Turns 7! | Lifestyle Session | Sarah Jane Photography
My good friends Nicole and Kris (from Artisan Photography) asked if I would mind photographing their son Ethan's 7th birthday party. It was going to be an Australian Zoo Animal party, per the birthday boys request, and Zoo To You was going to come and bring some fun animals INCLUDING A KANGAROO to the party. Of course I said YES! They also had me over to a small family party a week earlier. It was filled with so much love for Ethan. I was happy to be a part of both parties. Ethan is crazyfun and reminds me of my own son. He loves animals and science and all that goes with that. I knew the party was going to be awesome and it absolutely was! Happy 7th Birthday Ethan!!
March 23, 2017Hawai'i | Jeff & Sarah's Adventure | sarah jane photography
A couple weeks ago Jeff and I took a trip to Hawaii and it was a dream come true. When I first saw the post on Facebook that Erika & Lanny Mann were speaking at a conference called Hi on Life in Hawaii I knew that I had to go and that somehow I had to figure out a way to convince my husband that it was an awesome idea! I’m pretty sure he realized he did not stand a chance and that the only “approved” answer was yes when he heard the excitement in my voice and saw the determination in my eyes. He is a great husband! We started our adventure in Oahu at the Hilton Hawaiian Village where the conference was being held. After close to a fifteen hour travel day, we were greeted by the soft sounds of the ocean and a beautiful warmth on our face. Our first full day we did nothing but sit by the pool or beach, swim in the ocean and eat! It was perfect. Our second day we went on an amazing tour of the island with Hawaii Jeep Tours. Sean, our new friend, showed us what real Hawaii…
December 10, 2016Boudoir | The Iron Kettle B&B | Sarah Jane Photography
“The thing about being brave is it doesn’t come with the absence of fear and hurt. Bravery is the ability to look fear and hurt in the face and say move aside, you are in the way.” - Melissa Tumine To feel completely comfortable in your own skin, I believe, is the greatest challenge for everyone. But for a woman to feel comfortable in their own skin is almost next to impossible. The constant doubts, criticisms, double checks, comparisons, scales, calorie counting, hair dye, waxing, gimmicks, gadgets, self deprecation, scrolling, crying, depression and so on and so on that a woman goes through each and every day is just painful. Fuck. So in addition to all of the above I decided to ask a group of woman to trust me enough to bare all and let me empower them. I asked three woman, two of which had never met me before, to trust me to take off most of their clothing and feel completely vulnerable and to allow me to photograph them. (insert the insecurity of your choice now)!…
October 23, 2016Janelle&John | Detroit, Michigan Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
I have had the privilege of knowing Janelle for close to twenty years. So when John purposed to her in true super star fashion after her concert last year I knew he was the man for her. Their love is contagious and oh so beautiful. I was honoured when they asked me if I would be the one to capture their wedding day. After a beautiful tear filled ceremony we had a brief amount of time for some portraits. But in that small amount of time we created some of my favourite pictures of the year. I truly have a special place in my heart for Janelle (and now John). Her spirit and love always makes me feel like I’m taken care of. I was so proud to be a part of her and John’s day and I truly wish them a lifetime of laughs and love...sj
October 1, 2016Jessica&Lucas | Willestead Manor Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
I first met Jessica while we were in Mexico at our friends Erin and Spencer’s wedding. It was a really fun week. So from that moment we have developed a really fun friendship. I love her kind heart and all of her quirky characteristics. So when she first introduced me to Lucas I knew that he was her special “lobster”. Together they make the cutest couple and there is no doubt they love each other with all of their hearts. So when they announced they were engaged I secretly hoped they would pick me to capture their day...and they did! I knew we would create special pictures. After their amazing Detroit, Michigan engagement session I was so excited for their big day. Complete with a beautiful church wedding, a trip around town to the University of Windsor campus and Rock Bottom Bar & Grill, we ended our day at the stunning Willistead Manor. It was truly a beautiful day and I was so happy witness my friends become husband and wife. I wish them a lifetime of love and joy...sj
September 11, 2016Matt&Hilary | Canmore, Alberta Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
On a cool, slightly raining, Sunday in September Matt and Hilary said “I Do” surrounded by family, friends and some of the most beautiful mountains you will ever see in your life. The ceremony was filled with love, laughter and many good tears. The Canmore Nordic Centre and Bill Warren Training Centre gave a wonderful backdrop to their day. I was honoured that my cousin Matt and my “new” cousin Hilary entrusted me enough to fly me out to beautiful Canmore, Alberta to create some amazing pictures of their day. It was truly magical. I was excited to see all of my family and celebrate Matt and Hilary, but I was surprised by how welcoming and awesome their friends were. The reception, complete with Swing dancing, was a perfect end to their day. I truly wish them a lifetime of joy and love...sj
August 1, 2016Jocelyn&Derek | Willestead Manor Themed Engagement Session | Sarah Jane Photography
Jocelyn and Derek are two of the most unique and beautiful people I have ever met. Their love, happiness, and adoration are apparent. They are getting married this October and asked if they could do a themed engagement session, complete with face paint. Of course I said “YES!” I’m not sure I was prepared for what they had in mind until I saw them, but when they pulled up in the parking lot of Willistead Park, I was overwhelmed with excitement. Their makeup was done with such artistic flare and it made them look so bad ass. We made our way around the over 100-year old mansion and park and started to create some of the most unique pictures I have ever taken. After Willistead, we went over to the Hiram Walker Power Company building for further shots before the skies opened up on us. But what we were able to capture was enjoyable and very unique to their personalities. I’m truly looking forward to their October wedding. sj
June 28, 2016Ginette | The Iron Kettle Maternity Session | Sarah Jane Photography
When I found out that two of my favourite B&B owners were expecting their first child I was over joyed. Ben and Ginette's Iron Kettle B&B in Comber Ontario has provided a beautiful backdrop for many of my Boudoir sessions, a few very fun parties, and a relaxing escape when I just needed to get out of the city. But what I love above all is the friendship we have formed over the past couple years. You are not going to meet a more beautiful, down to earth andwelcoming couple...and now they are parents to a beautiful baby boy...Thomas! (see my great friend Nicole at Artisan Photography for his newborn session pics...Thomas) Just a couple weeks before Thomas was born I had the pleasure of photographing his beautiful Mamma. Ginette and I made our way to her family farm for some early morning stunning photos in their field and around the property. We then ventured back to the B&B for a few more bump pictures. It was a lovely morning. Below are a few of my favourite shots. I look forward to…
May 12, 2016Danielle&Imokhai | Riu Negril, Jamaica Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
Our first wedding of the year was for my very good friends in beautiful tropical Jamaica, at the Riu Negril and it was truly perfect. I have been friends with Imokhai (Maha) for over 20 years and when he brought Dea into our lives I was thrilled. We have become very good friends and I'm so happy I can now call her family. We were able to spend a week together in beautiful Jamaica enjoying the sun, family and love. It was an honour that they both entrusted me with their beautiful day...and it was absolutely beautiful! I'm so excited for them and all of their joy and love. I look forward to many years of fun and happiness with this beautiful family....sj
November 9, 2015Jessica&Lucas | Detroit Engagement Session | Sarah Jane Photography
I have the pleasure of meeting Jessica (Jess) through my friend Erin earlier in the year for her Mexico wedding. We instantly hit it off and have become great friends. So when Lucas purposed to her I was so very excited for them both. They are truly perfect for each other! We decided to photograph their engagement session in downtown Detroit, MI. The city is right across the river from where we live in Windsor and it offers a spectacular urban landscape for portraits. I was very excited about this session because shooting buildings in Detroit has become a passion of mine over the years. We started at the old DetroitTrain Station and then headed downtown to The Z Parkparking garage and alley. It was an awesome engagement session. They were perfect together and settled right in to any request that I had of them. Even if it happened to be "please touch noses"...LOL.I'm really looking forward to their fall 2016 wedding...sj
November 2, 2015Marnie&Jeff | Gesstwood Camp Essex Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
Marnie andJeff had the most beautiful fall rustic wedding I have ever seen. They were married at Gesstwood Camp in Essex, Ontario. On any of the days that I dropped my son off for camp or to work at the camp over the past 10 years, the grounds never looked as they did when I drove up the gravel driveway on the day of Marnie and Jeff's wedding. Every detail was a personal touch and reminded you of the love that they share. The recreation hall had been transformed into a country wonderland and the outdoor chapel, deep in the woods, looked like something out of a fairy tale.I could of spent the whole day just photographing the details. But then Marnie walked out in the most beautiful classic gown that made you forget instantlyabout any of the decorations. Every moment of the day was designed to be filled with comfort and love. Although the weather threatened, it never rainedand they had the perfect day. It was a true fairy tale complete with the most wonderful turkey dinner! Yum Yum!!…
October 26, 2015Jillian&Patrick | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
When my cousin Jill told me she was getting married I was so excited for her. Pat is a pretty awesome guy and I was sure he was going to take perfect care of her forever. But when she asked if I would be willing to come to Pittsburgh to capture their special day Iwas overwhelmed and so excited. It was going to be an epic celebration and I was thrilled to be a part of it. My very good friend and amazing photography Nicole, from Artisan Photography, made the trip with me and assist with all of the fun. She was awesomeand captured some greatmoments. I really love when we get a chance to shoot together. So on a chilly day in October, surrounded by a pretty great group of friends and family Jill and Pat said I do. There were many tears and lots of laughs, but I knew I had to pull it together (hehe)and focus on the task at hand. Which was exploring this amazing city and creating some great shots. Pittsburgh is truly amazing and Mount Washington lookout gave a perfect backdrop for our portrait…
October 9, 2015Jaclyn&Rob | Deer Run Golf Course Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
On a very cold day in early October, Jaclyn and Rob said I do surrounded by family and friends overlooking the beautiful Deer Run Golf Course in Blenheim, Ontario. The rain held out but the wind was sharp and strong. It wasn’treally obvious though, because both Jaclyn and Rob were so in love and excited about their big day that there was nothing but smiles from both of them. We took a quick tour of the golf course and found some amazing locations for our portrait session. Jaclyn as a trouper and said no problem every time I got excited and said just one more shot. It turned out to be a pretty amazing day. I wish them all both a life time of happiness and many more chilly days filled with love...sj
April 16, 2015Erin&Spencer | Azul Fives Mexico Wedding | Sarah Jane Photography
I had the pleasure of meeting Erin over a year ago when I joined a new volleyball team. We had never met before but it didn't take long before we were instant friends. Not long after our season began she came back from a holiday with, her then boyfriend, spencer with wonderful news. He had purposed and they were getting married! There plans were to have a destination wedding since their family was scattered all over the world. After a few conversations about photography I mentioned to her that it was very common these days for the bride and groom to bring a photographer with them on their destination wedding. We quickly booked the time and started working on the details. After a year of planning, a few too many bottles of wine, and the development of a great new friendship, we were on our way. I knew after spending new years with them and all of their friends at the stag & doe that we were going to have a wonderful time! I don't think I was prepared for how much fun I was really…
