Hello friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Here are some frequently asked questions regarding documentary photography. I love the honesty of this genre of photography. If you still have questions please feel free to send them through the contact page. xo
What can we expect to pay for a documentary session?
A documentary session ranges from $650 to $950 depending on the length of your session. An environmental portrait session is $400.
What is the difference between documentary and lifestyle photography?
Lifestyle photography focuses on taking environmental portraits of children or families. Documentary photography is unscripted and focuses on making honest story telling pictures of a family.
What should we do to prepare for our session?
The purpose of documentary photography is to tell a story of what your life is really like on any given day. If you’d like you can set up a few activities for small children either inside or outside the home but mostly just enjoy your day like you normally would.
How would you describe your style?
I try to be as honest as possible when making pictures during a documentary session. I enjoy the fun times a family can have as well as the quiet moments in between. I like to be close and in the action so I can feel part of the family. It will feel a bit weird at first having me in your space but I promise after the first little bit you won’t even realize I’m holding a camera.
How and when will we receive our pictures?
You will receive 50-100 pictures depending on the length of your session. Your pictures will be available in an online gallery which are then available to download and print. Post production typically takes 2-4 weeks.
